Kelsey Finkelstein and her three other besties, JoJo, Cass, and Em are about to start freshman year of high school. Kelsey is determined to make a name for herself. She wants to start by getting to play left wing in soccer and snagging her crush, Jordan Rothman. She thinks that she’s going to get her chance because Jemma, the girl her usually plays left wing and Jordan’s girlfriend, moved to Arizona.

Her joy is short-lived because a junior soccer player is making Kelsey’s life unbearable. Instead of playing left wing, she’s going to be the goalie. She’s starting to make a name for herself but not in the way she wanted. She is constantly finding unflattering pictures of herself in the school newspaper. The only bright side is she thinks that Jordan is finally taking an interest in her, but one of her friends is not convinced. Her friend, Cass, is acting very strange and her other friends are facing dilemmas of their own. Will Kelsey make a name for herself, snag a boyfriend, and keep her friendships intact?

I love reading young adult contemporary but can’t really find many that peak my interest. As soon as I saw the trailer for this book, I couldn’t wait to read it. Poor Kelsey just could not catch a break. I probably like Em the best of her friends, but it seemed that all of them, including Kelsey, was a little self-centered. I did like that they were there for each other when they really needed it, but they did have their tiffs like most friends do. I did think the amount of drinking was quite excessive considering they were only fourteen years old. This is a quick read that is definitely good for some laughs…especially at Kelsey’s expense.
